About Opiate Pictures
Opiate Pictures Inc. (originally Persistence Pictures Inc.) was founded in 2001 and is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The company’s focus has been to develop and produce feature films and television series for the international market place. In 2003, it produced Canada/UK/South Africa feature film “The Bone Snatcher” (2003), distributed by Overseas Film Group & Alliance Atlantis (as Persistence Pictures Inc.). It also co-produced feature film “Eighteen” (2005) which starred Ian McKellen and Carly Pope. Its latest feature film, “Stained” (2010) is a co-production with Angel Entertainment (Saskatchewan) and recently premiered as part of the Telefilm “Perspective Canada” showcase at the Cannes Film Market.
Currently focusing on low budget feature films with branding potential, Opiate is developing a series of feature films based on a vigilante spirit “Evangeline” that will be developed into an online web series, a comic book series, and video game applications. The promotional short film of the series, “Doll Parts,” will be completed by February 2011.
